Hey all!

I wanted to let you all in on a little secret! I just uploaded my first YouTube video for French Press This yesterday! I could not be more excited to be not only blogging but also making YouTube videos for you guys!

You can check out the new video here!

I am so excited to be doing this on top of doing regular blog posts.

This video is the things that I am going to be putting on a desk I'm buying that will from then on be the backdrop for most of my YouTube videos.

I filmed this with my new DSLR but I don't have an external microphone for it yet which I think is why the audio is a little spotty. I'm hoping to get one soon however.

Let me know if any of you guys have a YouTube account! I'd love to subscribe and follow your videos!

That DSLR Life

Hey guys!

I hope that you all enjoyed you're valentines day and got to spend time with your loved ones or got to spend some quality time on yourself for all you single loves!

I feel I kind of gave away the topic of this post with the title but we are just going to go with it! I finally got my first DSLR camera! Look how pretty! :)

Eric (my husband for you guys who don't know) gets the best husband award for buying this for me as an early valentines day present (swoon)! I have been eyeing this camera for the longest time, and had no intention of buying it anytime soon. He's too good. I wasn't expecting it at all!

I am honestly so excited about this I can't even tell you guys! I have really wanted to take my blogging to the next level and this is just one thing that is going to make both blogging and vlogging (bet you guys didn't see that coming!) easier!

I have so much to learn still, but I am throughly doing my research. From my research thus far I have already learned that I should go out and buy a separate lens for my food pictures than for my beauty pictures and that I shouldn't waste my time with the auto setting on my camera (although I have to say it does take pretty great pictures) and learn how to use the manual or semi-manual settings on the camera.

Be on the lookout for my first photo shoot with the new camera!

Hey guys!

Happy Tuesday!

I tried something new last week. Yoga. I made a new years resolution last year to try yoga, but sadly I was two months late to that party. I decided that I needed to try it since I have been thinking about it for quite some time. I didn't know at all what to expect, but I trotted over to the YMCA anyways!

I was the first one into the class because apparently no one gets there early. That was more than fine with me because I was both able to meet the instructor beforehand so she knew that I had never practiced before and was able to pick a spot in the studio that I felt comfortable in. I was nervous but at the same time so excited!

I was actually surprised at how challenging it was even though this was just a basic class. Holding those poses is much harder than it looks from the outside so I give props to people who do this all the time! I had no idea.

By the end of the class I was both relaxed and sweaty (mind you this wasn't even a hot yoga class). It was extremely enjoyable and I will be back in the near future for sure!

Do any of you guys practice yoga? What did you think of it the first time you took a class?

Delta Labs Review!

Hey guys and happy monday!

I hope you all had a much more relaxing weekend then I did! I feel like my whole weekend went by without me even knowing it! So sad…the best part though? I get another one in just 5 more short days! Woo hoo!

Anywho, I wanted to introduce you guys to Delta Labs! I am a Delta Labs Ambassador and couldn't be prouder! This company is something I strongly believe in, and I hope that I can share some of that passion with you all.

Today I wanted to talk about the Hair Skin and Nails Product.

I have had a hard time in recent years with my hair. I lost my initial weight at a really fast pace, and that type of thing promotes very quick hair loss. I had lost about 50% of the hair I used to have before I started to lose weight.

Now getting hair to grow back is a very tricky thing. I was told by my dermatologist that it is nearly impossible to get it to grow back without chemicals. However, he also told me that the best thing I could possibly do was to take care of the hair that I do have left! For me, a big part of that is a Biotin Supplement, which is exactly what is in Hair Skin and Nails!

I have only been taking my Hair Skin and Nails for about a month, but I can tell you it has made a world of difference already! I can tell that the hair that is growing is growing both faster and thicker, which helps my hair look fuller even with the recent hair loss!

I would love for you guys to get a chance to try out Hair Skin and Nails for yourself! So, Im doing a Giveaway! Woot!

Enter to win in the comments. Tell me your favorite hair tip or product and you will automatically be entered to win a free sample of Hair Skin and Nails! This giveaway is going to run until March 1st, so get on it girls! :)

If Hair Skin and Nails isn't something you think you are interested in, please visit the Delta Labs website and take a look around. You can get $5 your order by using the coupon code "frenchpressthis" at checkout!

Any questions please let me know!

Link Love: YouTube Edition!

Hey guys!

I hope you all are having a fabulous week! I sure did and I am so happy that it is finally the weekend! I have lots of things planned for this weekend that will be in a post in the coming week!

Here is some link love (from the youtube world) for you guys to enjoy!

1. The Bill Nye vs. Ken Ham Debate! You can watch the whole thing right here if you didn't get a chance to watch it last night! What do you all think? I have mixed feelings about it, and I had to turn it off at one point because it was making me angry! It is surely something you should watch if you didn't get a chance though!

2. Nikki Phillipi! I love this girl! I watch her all the time. Her videos are so awesome, and she even has an ask nikki channel on youtube where she answers viewer questions. I like to spend time watching her videos at the coffee shop! <3

3. TrulyJess! This girl is such a fitness inspiration! She does daily vlogs, so if you just can't seem to find the motivation to get to the gym (don't lie, we've all been there ;P) then watching her does the trick for me! She goes to the gym 6 days a week, is an MshellBombshell!, and eats super clean! She's all around amazing! <3

I hope you guys all take some time to look around at these pages! The debate is a very educated one, and the girls on the bottom are both super inspirational! They both have a big impact on my life!

Hope you all continue to have a great week!

Take It Slow

Hey guys and happy Saturday!

This week has been a strange one. I had 3 days off in a row due to the massive snow storm we had that I mentioned in my previous post. Being in a house with my husband for 3 days straight was wearing on me both of us, and things were starting to get a little tense.

In comes the best husband ever!

This man ran me a wonderful bath complete with candles, music, wine and bubbles!

This was exactly what I needed. Sometimes I get so caught up in the roles that I play in my life (wife, dog mom, best friend, co-worker) I forget to take some time for myself and just relax. Is it just me or does this happen to you guys too?

This night was capped off with bringing those candles into my bedroom and watching crappy television for the rest of the night (hello The Hills marathon!) with a cup of tea!

I have to remind myself to do this more often. I feel like I can function at my best when I have taken some time to myself to really unwind and take care of myself. I think everyone around me can agree that this has made me feel better and I'm in a much better mood!

What do you guys do to relax and reset yourself?

Impending Snow Fall and Books!

Hey guys and happy tuesday!

I got to leave class today because we have snow on the way! As a Maine native whenever it snows in Virginia I get a little overly excited! I can't help it! Look at these cute little suckers!

Let me just say this picture was not an easy capture, but I just love the intricate snow flakes and just felt like sharing some of this cuteness that brings me joy!

We are supposed to be getting 10-12" of snow which is crippling for the area that I live in. I probably won't be going anywhere tomorrow and I am totally ok with that.

I am planning on doing some leisure reading tonight and tomorrow. I don't get to do that too much during the semester because any time that I have to devote to reading is for required reading. Boo!

Has anyone read Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? By Mindy Kaling? This is one of my favorite books I have ever read! I'm about halfway through this and plan to finish it tomorrow. Have you seen her show The Mindy Project? Her humor is so right up my alley, I love it!

What kind of books do you guys like to read? Any favorites I should pick up?

Link Love

Greetings and Happy Saturday to you all!

I want to share some lovely link love for you guys! These are some of my fellow bloggers/writers that I absolutely love and think deserve some recognition!

1. Rabbit Food for my Bunny Teeth! Catherine is an absolute sweetheart! Ive been following her for almost two years and I couldn't be more impressed with both her content and her honesty. She has struggled in the time I've been following her and still seems to be completely open and honest with her readers and I really admire that! She's got some great recipes too! Please show her some love and let her know that I sent you!

2. David Carlson from Young Adult Money! This is an absolute must! I just started following David recently, but his posts are informative with some humor which I connect with! He's got some great tips on there for saving money as a young adult, and I always have a good time cruising his archives!

3. Lastly is Sprinkle of Glitter!  This girl is awesome! I first found her through a youtuber that I follow and I have honestly fell in love. Louise is an awesome gal with a great personality! I love reading her reviews and watching her videos on youtube! Also, all her posts about baby glitter? Yep, they give me major baby fever!

Finance Fridays!

Hey Guys, and happy friday!

I am so excited to be doing finance posts! It is something that I have wanted to write about many times before but my previous blog was not a very god medium to be having those types of posts (more on my previous/current blog to come in another post!). SO I am very excited to announce Finance Fridays to you all!

I haven't made a decision about whether this is going to be an every friday thing, or if I may pick a friday out of the month that I will do it. I'm going to do some brainstorming about the types/amount of things I want to talk about and will make another announcement about the subject later!

So let's get right to it then shall we?

Today I wanted to just quickly touch base about making a budget. Later I am going to post the secondary and third steps to creating this budget, but for now I'm just going to touch base about the basics. Not many people go through the process to see what they spend where and how much they can allot to various activities throughout the month. I think this is one of the biggest mistakes you can make when it comes to finances. Unless you are so overwhelmed with the amount of money you have coming in (yeah, we all wish right?) then you need to have a budget. Period.

This doesn't have to be anything fancy smancy like a spreadsheet in excel, (although I am planning on posting one later for all you neat freaks like me who like to have all your ducks in a row!) it really can just be a piece of paper on it with what you spend each month.

I find that most of us have no problem telling anyone how much our rent or utilities are each month, as those are things that usually don't change, however, it is usually harder to nail down how much you spend on things like eating out or gas. For things like this, I choose to go back 2 months in my checking account and add up how much I actually did spend on those types of things. If you spend cash most of the time on these things, start an envelope for the receipts from those things and then add them up after a month.

Having all of your expenses listed out in a visual way is one of the easiest ways to see where you may be spending excess money each month. The first time I ever did this, I realized in one month I spend almost $200 for coffee…and I'm totally not kidding!

Gathering information is the first step in creating a budget. You won't have any idea where you can save money if you don't know where you are spending all of your money.

In the next Finance Friday I am going to talk about how we are going to analyze this information! Yay for saving money!

I'd love to hear about you trials and successes! Please comment below, I love hearing from you guys! If you have any additional questions please head over to my contact page and shoot me an email or contact me via social media!

Welcome to my blog! I'm so glad that you decided to stop by and hope that you have some fun looking around!

I wanted my first post to focus on the name of this blog, as well as some things you can come to expect from French Press This! Let's jump right in!

I may or may not have a coffee addiction. I am currently in my second coffee shop job and honestly coffee shops are my second home! I love curling up with a good book or my laptop in a cute environment and reading or writing. There is something about physically going to a coffee shop that is nostalgic for me.

I write most of my blog posts and do most of my homework from coffee shops so I knew that the name of this blog had to fit in with my love of coffee. I also wanted it to capture my strong straightforward personality, so I thought what would be more fitting than "French Press This"?

The content is going to be super exciting (at least I think it is! ;))! I am going to do regular posts on health, nutrition, fashion, finance, coffee, adventures, and anything else I feel worthy of sharing with you guys. It's going to be a great ride and I hope that you guys choose to come with me!

So lets get to know each other! Comment below and let me know you're here! If you are a fellow blogger feel free to share a link to your blog so I can follow you back. I would love to hear for you all! <3
